I've been running tubeless for many years, on both my MTB and cyclocross/gravel/commuter bike. Have used a range of tubeless rim tapes from Stans, OrangeSeal and Caffelatex on carbon rims. Success totally depends on the sealant used...usually. Example: OrangeSeal will quickly destroy the Caffelatex rim tape. Stans seems the most resistant to all sealants, didn't have great success with the OrangeSeal tape. So, my rear gravel tire is worn out, decide to remount a prior gravel tire with a ton of tread left, that I'd previously had on the bike. Remove the old tire and rim tape, install fresh caffelatex tape, and cannot get the tire to seal. Ok, I've got another used tire, try that, no go. Ok, I buy a new tire and still no go...crazy, can't get the beads to fully lock (I'm using hookless rims). Hit the Cantitoe Road site for some fresh tape and notice these tubeless rim STRIPS, but no reviews. Ok, could be an expensive mistake, but decide to give them a shot. Super easy to install (like 1 minute), I mounted up that new tire with just my floor pump in a couple minutes (I couldn't get the prior attempt installed even using my air compressor), held air perfectly without sealant (I still install sealant since I ride off-road a lot). Has been holding air far better than the best of the rim tapes I've used (hmmm). Just installed the second tape on my front wheel, same experience - instant install of a used tire onto the wheel with a perfect seal first time. The first wheel might have been a fluke, the second certainly isn't. This is the best rim sealing solution EVER. I'm buying the wider version for my MTB today. I am using OrangeSeal Endurance formula in the tires, it is supposed to have the ammonia neutralized, so we'll see. I used the Caffelatex sealant for years but it doesn't always seal or seal quickly enough. Trying the OrangeSeal Endurance to see if it lasts as long as they say.
